What is a UL Certification?
UL Standards are used to assess products; test components, materials, systems and performance; and evaluate environmentally sustainable products, renewable energies, food and water products, recycling systems and other innovative technologies. The UL508 standards apply to companies who build electrical control panels (UL508A for industrial control panel shops). Builders adhering to these standards are allowed to attach the UL label to the product. Following an inspection and test of the facility and control panel, a UL certification can be applied. Periodic audits are conducted to ensure that panels continue to be built to UL508 standards. Industrial control panels are specifically engineered for use on industrial equipment. Panels vary from very basic to more complicated but are all subject to the guidelines of UL508A standards.
A UL certification assures the purchaser that the panel shop, as well as the device itself, is built with safety, efficiency and quality as a top priority. The certification also ensures that all individual components within the panel meet those same standards individually.
