Controller

Brenner-Fiedler is seeking an experienced accountant to lead day-to-day finance operations, streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes in the role of Controller. The candidate will produce thorough financial status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Objectives
- 1. Provide financial updates to senior management by analyzing and reporting significant data points
- 2. Guide financial decisions by researching and making recommendations based on the economic landscape
- 3. Develop, implement and maintain company’s financial controls and guidelines
- 4. Achieve budgeting goals through scheduling, analysis and course corrective adjustments
- 5. Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- 1. Oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations
- 2. Manage payroll system
- 3. Share HR oversight, including administering benefits program
- 4. Manage and monitor general ledger, all accounts and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and other appropriate regulatory requirements
- 5. Manage KPI reporting and analysis, pulling and analyzing P&L
- 6. Perform month-end close procedures
- 7. Maintain internal control safeguards for revenues and expenditures, budgeting and actual costs
- 8. Prepare and manage budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data, recommending plans and programs
- 9. Collect and interpret financial data to provide thorough and comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to senior management
- 10. Manage relationships with vendors
- 11. Prepare and file tax documents, keeping up with all applicable tax law and financial regulations
- 12. Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new and future legislation
- 13. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures and workflow
- 14. Establish preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques
- 15. Manage financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees
- 16. Assign and follow up with staff and team, evaluating workflow and appraising project results, including coaching and counseling employees
- 17. Maintain confidentiality of financial information, plans and contracts, including adhering to customer and supplier NDAs
Education, Experience and Licensing
- 1. Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
- 2. 10+ years proven accounting experience
- 3. Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA or CA
- 4. Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
- 5. Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
Preferred Qualifications
- 1. 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
- 2. Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
- 3. Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
- 4. Exemplary history of financial project management
- 5. Working knowledge of federal, state and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
- 6. CPA highly preferred
